Un de mes principaux axes de recherche est de comprendre l'adaptation de sociétés anciennes et des milieux biophysiques impactés face aux forçages anthropiques et environnementaux intenses retracés durant les derniers millénaires (notamment étudiés au sein des autres axes de recherche). Des collaborations avec des chercheurs en archéologie permettent d'évaluer l'évolution paléoenvironnementale de marais littoraux atlantiques via des approches géoarchéologiques. Les zones basses littorales sont au cœur de ces analyses, car ce sont des espaces qui ont subi de profondes mutations, tant environnementales qu’impulsées par des dynamiques anthropiques. L’évolution du trait de côte et de l’élévation du niveau moyen de la mer permettent de comprendre pourquoi certaines sociétés anciennes se sont déplacées, témoignant de scénarios d’adaptation face à l’évolution historique du climat.

L’approche est multiscalaire, car l’objectif est de comprendre ces dynamiques géographiques au cours de l’Anthropocène dans des sites précis, mais également de remonter jusqu’aux derniers millénaires au sein de régions plus vastes. En appréhendant différentes formes d’adaptations historiques retracées le long de nos littoraux atlantiques, l’objectif est d’enrichir la culture du risque face à l’évolution de la perception de l’océan par les sociétés impactées.

One of my main lines of research is to understand the adaptation of ancient societies and biophysical environments impacted in the face of intense anthropogenic and environmental forcings traced during the last millennia (particularly studied within the other lines of research). Collaborations with archaeology researchers allow to evaluate the palaeoenvironmental evolution of Atlantic coastal marshes via geoarchaeological approaches. The lower littoral areas are at the heart of these analyses, as they are spaces that have undergone profound changes, both environmental and driven by anthropogenic dynamics. The evolution of the coastline and the rise of the mean sea level make it possible to understand why some ancient societies have moved, testifying to scenarios of adaptation in the face of the historical evolution of the climate. The approach is multiscalar, because the objective is to understand these geographical dynamics during the Anthropocene in specific sites, but also to go back to the last millennia within larger regions. By understanding different forms of historical adaptations traced along our Atlantic coasts, the objective is to enrich the culture of risk in the face of the changing perception of the ocean by impacted societies.
